Maria Alvarez

Valencia 1974

conceptually minimalist, her painting is the consequence of a process of internalisation, an interpretation of reality that she carries out with no other purpose than an honest creativity and purity.

paintings that refer to life, to the world shared by souls, entities and landscapes.

canvases in which there is only what moves you or what should be:

the human being in his cosmic solitude, meditative on everything and the doubt of existing; the straight line and the free plane, with its vocation of home, shelter and illusory protection; and the enveloping nature, contained in itself, in its dense or bare vegetal rounding, extended towards paths that they use to infinity or converge in superimposed realities.

the atmosphere, also and above all, like a subtle perfume that scents the painting from corner to corner, brushstroke by brushstroke, which bathes it in harmony and tonal balance,

and, finally, the light, a warm light that suggests the sunset and induces us to think about the coming night, what is worthwhile and what is not.

showcases of the existential soliloquy, these works embody an imaginary universe closer to Bosco than to the surrealists, they make up their own space, due to its compositional line and sobriety, that somehow connects with the Italian metaphysical avant-garde of the thirties.

after almost three decades since its first exhibition, her trajectory has maintained the iconography and primordial keys of the beginnings: the expressiveness of silence, the statuary figuration, the landscape as an existential metaphor, minimalism and scenic cleanliness, keys that survive in time. matured and enriched by craft and talent.

based on the techniques and the notion of classical painting, it is an upcoming and contemporary work, captivating in that it awakens the desire and the emotion of enjoying it.
